What is Circl?

Circl (About | CIRCL Technologies ) is a technology company founded in 2021 working in the supply chain management and logistics space. 

What are we building?

We are creating software as a service platform for supply chain management, focusing on reusable container products. The business case for the platform is outlined here: Business case ProSaaS.
The platform consists of multiple software projects delivering a variety of features.
- The Backend (https://github.com/circl-dev/backend - Connect to preview ). Holds all the system data and exposes business logic through a WebSocket API. It’s primarily written in Go and hosted serverless in Amazon AWS. It is architected using the event sourcing pattern, explained here: Beginner's Guide to Event Sourcing | Event Store 
- The Frontend Backoffice (https://github.com/circl-dev/prosaas-web-monorepo - Connect to preview ). The operational and reporting window into the platform, exposing all its functionality through a browser single-page application. It is written in React using the micro frontends pattern.
- The App (https://github.com/circl-dev/prodistribution-android - Connect to preview ). A Kotlin Android application that is the main tool for interacting with the platform for client employees on the ground and the source of data for the system. 

How is the company structured?

Circl has a flat hierarchy and autonomous cross-functional engineering teams focused on parts of the platform as well as business support roles. As of writing this, there is only one engineering team focused on building the core product involving all software projects. An engineering team consists of developers, quality assurance engineers, user experience designers, an engineering manager, and a product manager. 

What is Proto Energy?

Proto Energy Ltd (https://protoenergy.com/) is the leading LPG provider in Kenya and the first client of Circl with whom the platform will be trialed. Proto manufactures gas cylinders and imports and sells LPG gas to businesses and individuals across the country. Additionally, it deals with bulk sales and autogas conversions.
